A type of rechargeable battery that utilizes a hydrogen-absorbing alloy at the negative electrode. They offer higher energy density compared to their predecessors, NiCd batteries, while being environmentally friendly due to the absence of toxic cadmium. NiMH batteries exhibit a longer cycle life and lack the "memory effect," allowing for flexible charging practices. Essentially, NiMH batteries provide improved performance and sustainability over older rechargeable battery technologies.  No recycling issues, more capacity and no memory effect as NiCd, competitively priced, but can lose charge faster than NiCd. They are often used for small, lightweight, portable, and handheld battery packs.
